Overview

The Epoch of Reionization is an emerging frontier in studies of galaxy formation and cosmology.  This conference aims to bring together observers and theorists working on wide-ranging aspects of reionization spanning the full range of the electromagnetic spectrum.  Observations are progressing rapidly such as near-infrared studies of high-redshift galaxies, quasars, and IGM absorbers, far-infrared studies of atomic and molecular emission, microwave background polarization measures, radio studies mapping the redshifted 21cm line, optical studies of nearby relics of reionization, and distant gamma ray bursts.  Simulators are likewise developing powerful new tools to follow the interplay of the first stars and galaxies with intergalactic gas during the EoR.  By bringing together disparate groups in a small, interactive workshop, we will explore new synergies and chart an optimal path towards understanding the last major phase transition in the Universe.

This is the second in a series of workshops sponsored by the Centre for Extragalactic Theory based in Cape Town, South Africa.  This one will be held at the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate, at the entrance to Kruger Park, one of the premier game reserves in the world featuring South Africa's famous Big Five.  Note: Venue restrictions limit the workshop to a maximum of 45 participants.
